Meeting the SOFC & SOEC Market Needs for Over a Decade
fuelcellmaterials was established in 2000 as a wholly owned division of NexTech Materials, Ltd. (which is now Nexceris, LLC) to commercialize innovative ceramic materials technology and products. These technologies and products are suited to the developing of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and fuel processing markets which include such items as: test fixtures, powders, pastes catalysts and components.
Understanding the demand for these types of renewable sources, fuelcellmaterials is now developing technologies around SOEC. The research avenues in SOEC are similar to the ones for the fuel cells, and the knowledge that we have gained through SOFC research can be leveraged to push SOEC’s forward. As part of this effort, Nexceris was recently awarded a project to research and produce advanced coatings to enhance the durability of SOEC stacks.
fuelcellmaterials is backed by its dedicated staff of material scientists and engineers who deliver high quality materials and assist in helping our clients meet all of their needs. This high level of expertise allows our staff to quickly and accurately tailor our powders and components to fit the needs and processes of our clients. These changes can be as simple as a physical property change or as complex streamlining to a material to work with specific applications.

Our Products
POWDERS
fuelcellmaterials offers standard and tailored anodes, cathodes, and electrolyte powders, many of which are available in quantities ranging from 150 grams to industrial volumes of tons per year. All powders are manufactured at a high level of quality that ensures reproducible batches and come with complete documentation for characterization.
If you are looking to customize or scale your powders, we utilize our LEVER process to better understand your needs and tailor our products and recommendations. Using our proven collaboration method, known as LEVER, with your technology and our expertise, our partners move faster to commercialization. Using LEVER, we have the ability to prove product concepts on lab scale equipment before moving to larger quantities. We keep volume manufacturing in mind to develop scalable processes for our partners. We also have a strong distribution network to ensure global reach.
INKS
fuelcellmaterials has recently enhanced its manufacturing process for large quantities of inks and contact pastes. This allows quantities ranging from 50 grams to 10 kilograms to be delivered every week.
COMPONENTS
Standard substrates, single sided cells, anode supported and electrolyte supported cells are available in various sizes and shapes, including 25 mm diameter disks and 10 cm x 10 cm squares. Substrates and single sided cells allow clients to focus on their electrode research without having to worry about creating a reproducible component.
TESTING
Test fixtures are supported by the experienced staff of Nexceris and come with detailed operation manuals. fuelcellmaterials also offers all of the accessories needed to test properly, including: contact mesh, seals, lead wires, contact pastes, and precious metal inks.
Testimonials
“I’ve found fuelcellmaterials to be an excellent source of high quality SOFC materials. I especially appreciate their prompt response when I inquire about custom materials.”
Jeffry W. Stevenson
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
“fuelcellmaterials provides many novel material solutions and state of the art SOFC cells for research at academic institutions as well as industry. Availability of the technology to academic community is vital to successful development of SOFC system in the long run. Sales and technical supports are excellent and responsive.”
Daejong Kim
University of Texas at Arlington
“fuelcellmaterials has been instrumental in my on-going research on IT-SOFC anodes by providing quality materials, Probostat and timely support. The staff has been very helpful in the whole correspondence…”
Rupak Das
University of Alabama
“The good thing about fuelcellmaterials is that they offer a wide variety of SOFC products that we can simply get whatever we wanted for our research, but that’s not all: their services and assistance went well beyond providing those separate parts; they would try to answer whatever questions arose during those applications. They even have a “think tank” to help us analyze the defects of our button-cell testing fixtures. It’s amazing.”
Luping Li
Louisiana State University
“The experience with fuelcellmaterials is a pleasant one. The staff is always very supportive and helpful. We really appreciate the help.”
