Lewis Center, OH (November 30, 2023) – Nexceris, a clean energy innovator with more than 25 years of focus on renewable energy, is pleased to announce that Hyundai Motor Company, including its affiliate Kia Corporation (HMC(KIA)), a company incorporated in the Republic of Korea, has signed a joint development agreement with Nexceris focused on SOEC (Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell) innovation and demonstration.
A team from HMC(KIA), led by Hyunsoo Sohn, the head of the Energy Materials Research Group at Hyundai Motor Group, visited Nexceris for the signing ceremony and project kickoff meeting on October 24, 2023.
The project plans to integrate HMC’s technologies and Nexceris’ expertise in Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC)/SOEC manufacturing along with extensive single cell testing for Solid Oxide Cells (SOCs). This approach will allow both companies to quickly test and rapidly innovate based on promising results.
Kyle Shen, President of Nexceris said, “This joint development agreement project will allow Nexceris to leverage our vast expertise in SOFC/SOEC manufacturing and accelerate HMC(KIA)’s exploration of clean energy technologies. We are very excited about this opportunity and are grateful to HMC(KIA) for their trust in us.”
This is an important development for HMC(KIA) as it seeks to develop next generation clean technologies to realize a more sustainable energy future. This R&D collaboration agreement will focus on bringing that future closer to reality through testing and co-development.
