Description
Scandia fully stabilized zirconia (with 10 mol% Sc2O3) has the highest oxygen ionic conductivity of zirconia-based ceramic electrolyte materials. It is used as an SOFC electrolyte membrane for improving performance or reducing operating temperature. It also can be used as a component in high performance composite cathodes or cermet anodes. ScSZ-10 has an ionic conductivity that is 3-4 times that of yttrium stabilized zirconia YSZ-8). The mechanical strength of ScSZ-10 also is approximately twice that of YSZ-8. The characteristics of this ScSZ-10 powder make it well suited for use in tape casting, ink formulation, pellet pressing and other ceramic manufacturing processes.
